A Framework to Characterize Mobile Group Support Systems

Rapid development of wireless communication and mobile devices has created opportunities to support mobile group coordination at a more efficient level than before. In this article we present a framework to characterize Mobile Group Support Systems (MGSS) in four dimensions: whom to support, what to support,where to support,and how to support A MGSS: 1) supports group users mat are mobile, working jointly,or with members from multiple parties; 2) supports group coordination mat may free from context constraints,or to be ad hoc and context aware; 3) is able to deal with dynamic,uncertain, frequent disruption,time and space fragment and fluid context; and 4) takes advantages of mobile technology and existing supporting tools. And then compare them with Stationary Group Support Systems and Mobile Worker Support Systems.
