Post-Acquisition Top Management Turnover and Legitimacy: A Perspective of Institutional Theory
Post-acquisition top management turnover has significant effect on corporate acquisition performance. However,there are conflicts among concurrent studies. On the perspective of institutional theory,this paper introduced a concept of legitimacy and made an empirical research on the relationships of post-acquisition top management turnover and legitimacy based on a sample of 123 acquisitions. It is found that post-acquisition top management turnover has significantly positive effect on internal legitimacy,while there is no significant relationship between top management turnover and external legitimacy. The founding can have some theoretical value for corporate decision on top management replacement after acquisitions and how to achieve acquisition goals.
