Application of Satellite Monitoring Technology to Prevent the Third-Party Damage of Pipeline
At present, with the development of pipeline management technology and the impact of various social factors, third-party damage has become an important and difficult problem concemed about by pipeline operating companies all over the world. Operators are also constantly exploring and studying new technologies and management measures to prevent the occurrence of third-party damages, including pipeline satellite monitoring technology. This paper analyzed the history and status of this technology and focused on two types of application in the pipeline industry, which are the application of GPS satellite positioning technology in the pipeline inspection management and the application of the satellite monitoring technology in the pipeline aerial inspections. Finally, some recommendations on the satellite monitoring technologies and on prevention of third-party interference damage are put forward.
