A Collaborative Filtering Approach to Making Recommendations Based on Ontology in the Movie Domain
Collaborative filtering approach is an important approach in making recommendations. However, it faces the hard issue of cold start problem and the matrix sparsity problem. In this paper, we present a novel hybrid recommendation approach based on ontology in the movie domain. The approach combines set based similarity algorithm and user evaluation based similarity algorithm in collaborative filtering. The hybrid recommendation approach can tackle the traditional recommenders matrix sparsity and cold start problems. Our experiments show that, our approach provides a good method to make recommendations.
