The Adaptive Frequency and Phase Shift Compensator

How to estimate the center frequency shift of signals is a classical and important problem. A new computationally efficient and accurate adaptive algorithm is presented for estimating and compensating the center frequency shift. The algorithm is developed on gradient technique. By computing the increment of signals phase shift between successive samples, the center frequency shift can be estimated directly. Since the technique is adaptive, it can also be applied to track a time-varying frequency shift. The algorithm is valuable for practice as it can work for wideband signals with large frequency shift and its low computational complexity.
