Design and Analysis of a Stream Cipher Based on Chaotic DFS System

The performance of stream cipher is very important for communication and network security. A chaotic stream cipher codec design based on digital filter structure is proposed. Two DFS units are combined to generate the chaotic sequence, whereas the addition operation and convolution operation are modified. The period of the encoder output sequence is more than 1.6×1019.The cipher states diffuse rapidly and uniformly in the state space, and the state conversion trace is sensitive to the changes of initial states or parameters. By using Berlekamp-Massey iteration algorithm, the output stream cipher is been tested, the result shows that the linear complexity is almost perfect. Lempel-Ziv complexity, as one of the nonlinear complexity, is measured. The output cipher shows its Lempel-Ziv complexity is finer. The application of DFS chaotic stream cipher is preferable in communication and network systems.
