High-speed Design of a Scalable Radix-64 Montgomery Multiplier

This paper proposed in improved version of Montgomery multiplier basing the Tencas multiple-word high-radix Montgomery multiplication algorithm. Higher radix-64 is adopted in our design. Comparing to the Tencas radix-8 multiplier, the performance of our multiplier is improved by 48%. Furthermore, the critical path was shorter by adjusting the datapath. The proposed multiplier is also able to work with any precision of the input operands and can be suitable to various public key cryptosystems.
