Planning with Utility Dependency Rules
In the field of Over-Subscribed Planning (OSP), utility between goals is more important than single goal utility. However, the GAI (General Additive Independence) model, which has been used to depict goal utility dependency, is too complex to be fit for practical applications. To solve this, we present a new method of describing goal utility dependency. These dependency relationships are specified with rules, called utility dependency rules, which are very simple and nature. We also give the compile mechanism of translating these rules into essential elements of Planning Problem Description Language (PDDL) so that planning systems can handle them. It is the first time to present describing goal utility dependency based on rules in order to overcome some drawbacks of existing methods.
