Research about Corporation Product Innovation Plan
Technology innovation is a special class of development plans where the deliverable is new knowledge, new technology, a technical capability, or a technological platform. Technology innovation plans are the foundation for new products and new processes and thus are vital to the prosperity of the modern corporation. But these basic research knowledge-build plans are often mismanaged because companies employ the wrong process to manage them or apply inappropriate financial criteria for plan selection. The result is that technology innovations have become increasingly rare in the typical companys development portfolio. To better manage such plans, leading companies have adopted a unique stage-decision. This process consists of three stages and four decisions, and feeds the front end of the typical new product process. The decision of the technology innovation process is the Applications Path Decision, which marks the end of the technology innovation plan but potentially the beginning of multiple commercial plans. Scorecards and the use of tailored success criteria are used to rate and rank these technology plans. Adopting a technology innovation Stage-Decision process, using custom-tailored scorecards and success criteria, and employing strategic portfolios to ensure resource availability are vital technology innovation plans.
