Fuzzy and Life Cycle Assessment Applied for Evaluation of Packaging Rationality
The packaging rationality of two kinds of milk packaging, one of which is plastic made from polyethylene and tbe. other is composite matenal made from laminating Al/PE/Paper, was evaluated and compared adopting the approach of LCA, respectively. Firstly, the hierarchy structure of evaluation index system was established, taking its practical function, acceptable environment and feasible economic roles into consideration. Then weight of each item in the evaluation. system was obtained using analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) was used for final rationality evaluation. Combined with LCA, AHP and FCE, a rationality evaluation method was developed for milk packages comprehensively considering environmental, economic and functional factors, and the rationality of two kinds of milk packages were evaluated as case study. The results indicated that the composite package was more feasible than plastic packaging and would be a sustainable choice for milk package if improvements were made on its environmental and economic aspects. The method was proved simple and feasible for rationality evaluation of package products.
