Effect of Filter Bed Temperature on Municipal Wastewater Treatment Efficiency by Vermifiltration
Effect of filter bed temperature on sewage treatment efficiency by vermifiltration was studied by analyzing influent and effluent quality of vermifiltration at hydraulic loading of 4.8m3/m2·d in a pilot scale. The results showed that the influence of the fdter bed temperature on the removal of organics was in accordance with the binomial distribution and that on removal of NH4+-N was in accordance with the Sigmoidal equation. No obvious influence was detected on the removal of TN and TP. The experimental results also indicated that the optimal filter bed temperature of the quartz sand vermifiltration and the ceramisite grain vermifiltration were in the range of 15-24℃ and 18-25 ℃, respectively. The ceramisite grain has a buffer capacity witb the variations of the filter bed temperature, which has better resistance to the adverse impact of vermifiltration under lower and higher temperature conditions than that of the quartz sand. Additionally, the analysis of the insignificant influence of the different filter bed temperature on the removal of TN and TP was carried out.
