A Model for Acoustics Fluctuations Due to Internal Waves
Since internal waves are the main source for acoustics fluctuations, interaction between acoustic signal and nonlinear internal waves in shallow water regions must cause significant attention. In order to understand and describe the effects of internal waves on acoustic signals, here it built a set of numerical models to simulate the progress of internal wave influencing acoustic signals. They mainly were the internal wave packet model and the sound propagation model. The internal wave packet model was used to reconstruct the environment of internal wave fields, which is very important for rebuilding internal fields rapidly. The advanced PE model for sound propagation adopted a split-step difference algorithm resulting to reduce calculation quantity and enhance calculation speed. Using the two models it simulated the transmission loss of different receiver depths and summed the influence of internal wave on underwater sound, which provided the whole progress and a valid method to analyze the internal waves effect on acoustics. These results suggested that it should be necessary to take internal waves into account for the ocean target detection.
