Radiative Transfer in Massive Circumstellar Disks

We have developed a 2-D radiative transfer code to calculate the temper ature and density distribution as well as the spectral energy distribution (SED) of massive circumstellar disks. Our code utilizes the flux-limited diffusion approximation in an axisymmetric flared disk model in spherical polar coordinates. From our test calculations, we have shown that the luminosity of the central source can be deter mined based on the peak luminosity of the SED. This is consistent with the case for the low mass star formation. In addition, the disk height is a potential indicator for surface density power law index. Our predicted images for test cases are consistent with observed massive circumstellar disks.
