Distance Determination to M33 with FGLR
An application of the flux-weighted gravity - luminosity relation (FGLR), a spectroscopic distance determination technique proven successful for finding the distance modulus to other galaxies (e.g. Urbaneja et al. 2008; Kudritzki et al. 2008), is presented in the case of M33. We analyze a sample of 17 BA-type supergiants spanning the face-on view of the Triangulum Galaxy using highresolution DEIMOS spectra. A quantitative spectroscopic study described here aUows us to derive atmospheric parameters such as effective temperature, surface gravity, and metallicity. Along with dereddened absolute bolometric magnitude, the tight linear relationship among these quantities gives us a measurement of the distance modulus μ = 24.87 ± 0.11 for M33.
