The γ-γ Absorption in TeV Flares
The rapid variability in high energy band have been observed in many blazars. A value of Lorentz factor up to 50 is necessary in a uniform SSC model to produce TeV gamma-rays without being absorbed in γ - γ pair production, and contradicts the modest apparent speed observed by radio VLBI. We estimate the Lorentz factors under different pair production opacity in uniform SSC model. It is found that the TeV photon absorbtion by pair production is unavoidable in order to mediate the inconsistence of bulk motions obtained by different wavebands, and pair acceleration is needed to keep TeV gamma-ray emission.
