Folklore as an Astronomical Study of Indonesian Traditional Society, Case Study: Bima Sakti and Betara Kala
Traditional society in Indonesia has always been familiar with celestial objects in their own traditional ways since ages. Folklore is only one form of telling the mythologies from the ancestors and carried on to the youngsters. Folklore is enriching the culture in the archipelago, from Sabang in the West to Merauke in the East of Indonesia. It is therefore a heritage that must be preserved as the countrys precious cultural identity. Our purpose is to collect and document these astronomical folklores in Indonesia.
