1.Introduction In the short story The Shawl Cynthia Ozick, a Jewish American writer, presents to us the pitiful expenence of three Jews during the Second World War.A woman, Rosa by name, together with her baby daughter Magda and a 14-year-old girl Stella, is forced into a concentration camp and has gone through various inhuman treatments.Toward the end of the story, the mother even has to watch with her own eyes her little daughter being hurled at an electrified fence.
