Uncertainty evaluation using monte carlo method with MATLAB
A method for evaluating the uncertainty using Monte Carlo method with MATLAB is presented. Monte Carlo method is a general numerical approach for carrying out the calculations required as part of an evaluation of measurement uncertainty. This method would reduce the analysis effort required for complicated or nonlinear models, especially since the partial derivatives of first or higher order used in providing sensitivity coefficients for the law of propagation of uncertainty are not needed. The implementation of this method uses MATLAB as programming language. Detailed information about assignment and sampling style of input quantities is given, with two uncertainty evaluation examples of power measurement and dial indicator calibration.
