Intra-organizational Ties and Knowledge Sharing: The Moderating Role of Organizational Knowledge Management Strategy
Knowledge is created and exchanged to a large extent through social interactions. Thus, in an organizational context, intra-organizational ties are important to knowledge sharing. In this paper, a theoretical framework about the relationships between intra-organizational ties, individual knowledge sharing and organizational knowledge management strategy is developed. With the survey data from 94 respondents, the theoretical framework is examined. The result shows that: (1) two basic types of intra-organizational ties - work ties and personal ties -are the significant predictors of knowledge sharing, (2) work ties have the mediating effect between personal ties and knowledge sharing, and (3) human-oriented knowledge management strategy has the moderating effect between personal ties and work ties.
