Analysis on the Influence of Self-awareness and Achievement Motivation on College Students Academic Self-handicapping
Academic self-handicapping refers to the ego defense strategy the students adopt to protect their self values and images. In this research, we used questionnaire method to test 240 college students, and used multiple stepwise regression method to study the influence of self-awareness and achievement motivation on academic self-handicapping. The result indicates that there is significant correlation between college students academic self-handicapping and their public self-awareness and achievement motivation; the public self-awareness and achievement motivation have a significant forward predication of college students academic self-handicapping. The school education should pay attention to adjusting students self-awareness and achievement motivation so as to reduce academic self-handicapping behaviors.
