Application of 3D Morphological Analysis in Geological Interfaces Based on TIN Model
Spatial morphologies of geological interface have a close relationship with the formation and distribution of ore bodies, so the related spatial morphology factors (SMF) are help to analyse and predict the location and grade of ore bodies. But it is difficult for the existing GIS methods of spatial analysis to extract and express SMF of geological interface. The paper proposes a new method that uses 3D TIN model to simulate geological interfaces and calculates SMF including the general geometry parameters (slope and angle) and the trend-residue parameter with geometric and computer graphics principles. The spatial distribution of SMF results can be displayed based on distance fields of geological interfaces and block models. Taking the Dingjiashan lead-zinc deposit in Fujian Province as an example, it shows that the method can be more accurate and more efficient for extraction of SMF, be effective in quantitative expression of SMF and have important significance in stereoscopic quantitative prediction of ore bodies.
