STUDYING BEATING ON PAPER QUALITIES OF POPLAR P-RC APMP
The poplar high yield pulps were beaten by PFI mill, then the effects of freeness on the paper properties and fiber morphology were analyzed. The results showed that, during refining P-RC APMP, the cutting effect was obvious at first stage, and then fibrillation and stretch were main factors at later stage. Decreasing the freeness could reduce the average fiber length and improved the fines content, but the curl index and kink index fist increased, and then reduced and rose again. At the same time, tensile strength of hand sheets increased by a large margin. However the bulk decreased, the burst strength and stiffness firstly increased then decreased. The pulp properties of whiteness and opacity decreased with the freeness reduced.
