NEW REQUIREMENTS ON NEWSPRINT’S PRINTABILITY RESULTED BY MODERN PRINT QUALITY
The requirements are presented on the properties of newsprints because of the modern high-speed color newspaper printing technology has highly developed, for instance，break rate on newsprint must be confined to be less than 1.0％ or even less for high-speed color newspaper printing press, and it is necessary for newsprint to possess sufficient surface strength, fine surface smoothness of paper, good ink absorbency, high whiteness as well as low deformation rate. Meanwhile, with the domestic newsprint at a low price, the newsprints are urged to gradually develop towards lightweight. Combining with new requirements on newsprint printability for print quality under the condition of the modern press, this paper focuses on the following issues: the differences between the modern printing and traditional printing methods, the new features of newsprint manufacturing process and the effects on printability such as the structure change of fiber raw material (the extensive use of waste paper as raw material, the wide application of high yield chemical pulp and so on). Some proposals related to how to improve the printability of newsprints for newsprint production enterprises from the aspect of the assurance of print quality were also suggested in the paper.
