RETENTION AND PROPERTIES OF PRC-APMP CONTAINING PAPERS APPLIED CO-FLOCCULATION PROCESS
This paper investigated the retention and properties of PRC-APMP containing paper applied co-flocculation of fines and filler with Hydrocol system, and compared it with that of PRC-APMP containing paper made by conventional process. The results showed that the co-flocculation process achieved higher retention of fines and filler, and higher drainability of stock at any shearing force. This paper also investigated the influence of the dosing sequence of flocs in co-flocculation process on paper properties. The results showed that the dosing point of flocs of fines and filler with Hydrocol system did not influence handsheets bulk and opacity, but improved strength properties and water resistance. It was advantage for handsheets strength to mix starch and flocs before they were added into fiber slurry, while it was advantage for water resistance of handsheets to mix AKD and fiber slurry before flocs were added into fiber slurry.
