A STUDY ON SUBSTITUTION OF POPLAR BCTMP WITH POPLAR APMP IN THE PRODUCTION OF COATED PAPER
APMP from poplar was used to make the base paper of coated paper for substitution of BCTMP, the finished paper was coated and the physical properties of the coated paper were tested. The results of the research showed that the indices of physical properties of coated paper could reach or exceed GB/A of coated paper. After poplar APMP was used in substitute of poplar BCTMP, the bulk and opacity increased. The whiteness decreased a little whereas other physical properties were equal. The effect of OBA to both durability and color cast of coated paper were also studied and the results showed that the durability of coated paper which OBA was added in the pulp was much better than the one which OBA was added in the coatings, but the color cast of the former was more severe than the later.Thus it was concluded that substitution of poplar BCTMP with poplar APMP is in favor of cost reduction in the production of coated base paper.
