ENERGY SAVING BY INCREASING PRODUCTION
A series of optimization projects and rebuilds of different TMP lines has clearly shown large energy savings by upgrading and optimizing the lines for the highest production levels possible for the different refiner types. Energy savings from 15 to 30% have been obtained. The results have been achieved on different TMP systems with many different refiner types, and from 1 stage, 2 stage and 3 stage refining lines. In all cases the final product properties has been reported to be the same. The projects cover the following product grades: Board, News, Improved news, SC and LWC. For a mill producing 1000 ADMT/d yearly savings in the range of 10 M€ has been achieved. Many of the projects have been based on none or very low investments, and the main focus has been on debottlenecking of the different process part to be able to utilize the refiners and the main motors to the maximum. In all cases development of refiner segments to fit the new production levels has been necessary.
