DIFFERENT SUBSTRATES IN ANALOG VERTICAL FLOW CONSTRUCTED WETLANDS TO DISPOSE SBR EFFLUENT OF PAPERMAKING MILL

The analog Vertical Flow constructed wetlands with four different substrates were built to treat chemimechanical pulping wastewater. The anthracite, shale, general biological ceramsite and fine biological ceramsite were selected as substrates and three of them were chose to have a pairwise testing. The results were shown that (1) the four substrates had different removal rates for the wastewater: the anthracite and fine biological ceramsite had a better result: the removal rates of COD could get 98% and 69% respectively when the system ran 8days and the anthracite was the best one for chroma removal. (2) the pairswise testing showed the group of fine biological ceramsite and anthracite had a better effect on COD removal, the concentration of COD was abated from 700mg/L to 188mg/L better than the single fine biological ceramsite substrate (218mg/L) . (3) according to the best removal rates of COD,TP and chroma, substrates of anthracite or the group of anthracite and fine biological ceramsite were suggested to be chosen for the analog constructed wetland system, with the retention time: 3days, but the results were not better with an extend residence time.
