Optimal Redundancy Allocation for Cold-Standby Systems

The problem of allocate redundant components which is in order to stochastically increase the system lifetime is important in reliability theory. In this paper, the optimal redundancy allocation is considered, which maximizes the lifetime expectation of a cold-standby system with subsystems consisting of components in parallel. The constraints are the total resource and the sizes of subsystems. Two optimization problems are studied by an incremental algorithm and dynamic programming technique to obtain a non-dominated solution or optimal solution.
