Exact reliability of generalized multi-state consecutive- k -out-of- n system
Most study on consecutive- k -out-of- n system is in the binary context, the system is failed if and only if at least k consecutive components are failed. The new definitions of generalized multi-state consecutive- k -out-of-n: F and G systems is given by Huang 12. In this paper, by using the finite Markov chain imbedding approach, we present a unified formula with the product of matrices for evaluating the system state distribution for any generalized multi-state consecutive- k -out-of- n: G system, which includes the decreasing multi-state G system, the increasing multi-state G system, and non-monotonic multi-state G system.
