Optimal Release Problem Based on Stochastic Differential Equation Model for a Large-scale Open Source Solution
At present, it is focused on an open source solution in terms of the cost reduction and quick delivery for efficient software development. However, the poor handling of quality problem and customer support has limited the progress of open source software. This paper focuses on an open source solution composed of several open source components. We propose a software reliability growth model based on stochastic differential equations in order to consider the active state of the open source project. Especially, we discuss the optimal software release problem for the open source solution based on the total expected software cost. Moreover, we analyze actual software fault-count data by using the proposed model to show numerical examples of software reliability assessment for the open source solution.
