Integrated Importance Measure of Multi-State Systems for Maintenance Processes
This paper mainly focuses on the integrated importance measure (IIM) of component states for maintenance processes. To describe the impact of each component state in maintenance, a maintenance utility function of multi-state systems is defined at first. Then, considering the probability distributions and instantaneous transition intensities of the component states, the IIM of component states is put forward based on the system maintenance utility when the object component is repaired from one state to a better state. The corresponding physical meaning of IIM in maintenance is also demonstrated by the calculation formula. Finally, the characteristics of IIM of component states in typical systems are discussed in details. The results show that IIM can be used to identify the component key state for the maintenance decision making.
