A Discrete Time Model of Congestion in Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles on An Expressway

Electric vehicles (EV) are used in various areas. In Japan, EV will spread in the near future. However, the cruising range of EV is less than that of the gasoline car and the charging time is longer than the refuel time. These points may cause serious congestion at charging stations in an expressway if enough charging stations are not installed. A discrete time model is proposed to analyze the congestion at charging stations, by assuming the stochastic charging behavior of EV users.
