Optimal Replacement and Inspection Policy for An Operating System under A Geometric Process

In this paper, we consider an operating system which executes a job with random working times. It is assumed that the working times form a geometric process. The system is checked at periodic times and also at every completion of working times to detect the failures, and it will be replaced by a new one when the number of jobs completed reaches a fix number N. The explicit expression of the total expected cost until the detection of the failure is obtained. The optimal bivariate policies are computed numerically.
