A Randomized Repair Strategy in Two-dimensional Warranties
Servicing warranted items using different strategies is a common practise. Varnosafaderani and Chukova (2010) proposed a servicing strategy of partitioning the two-dimensional warranty rectangle into four disjoint subregions and practising an imperfect repair whenever the item fails for the first time in the intermediate subregions followed by several minimal repairs. Here we extend this strategy by randomizing the choice of restoration between a minimal repair or, an imperfect repair. The expected warranty servicing cost is derived and numerically illustrated.
