Computation of the Remaining Useful Life of a system using online information :a methodology for prognosis

This paper focuses on the presentation of a methodology for the prognosis of a complex aeronautic system. First, the prognosis problem is translated in mathematical terms : it consists in computing the distribution of the Remaining Useful Life (RUL) conditionally to available online information. Then, a global methodology is proposed when the system is modelled using a Markov process. This method requires to compute the conditional law of the system under the available observations, and the reliability of the system. Some reliability computation techniques are proposed when the Markov process is a Piecewise Deterministic Markov Process (PDMP). Two examples illustrate the method.
