A Knowledge Management System Based on Product Design Stream Line
Nowadays there is a strong imbalance between the increasing product complexity and creativity and the limited time left to designers for the exploitation and creativity. Design stream line borrowing from the concept of the manufacturing stream line is proposed to minimize design waiting and waste and improve design efficiency. The basic elements of design stream line and their parameters are defined, and the structure form of these elements is proposed. The key technology-process breakdown, sequence optimization, resource skill define and line balance are presented to realize the design stream line. Finally, a prototype system verifies the feasibility of the notions of design stream line.
