Analysis of Factors Affecting Wayfinding Performance: Review and a Model
The objective of this study is to review the literature on wayfinding. The factors affecting wayfinding performance were investigated, and a wayfinding performance model based on review and analysis was constructed. The proposed wayfinding performance model divides the factors into four categories: personal factors, wayfinding strategy factors, environmental factors, and navigation support tool factors, each of which has several subfactors. The model not only reveals the effects of these factors on wayfinding performance but also discusses the relationship among these factors. Finally, this study provides a perspective on future wayfinding research.
