RFID-Integrated Real-Time Manufacturing Monitor Based on Complex Event Processing
Real-time manufacturing plays a key role in the complicated manufacturing, since it can monitor manufacturing processes and alert the appropriate personnel what actions need to be taken in real time. It not only helps companies improve manufacturing efficiency, but also improve product quality and increase yield. One bottleneck that limits the widespread application of real-time manufacturing is real-time information capturing and collecting precisely and accurately. The emergence wireless devices such as RFID makes it become possible; however, since the raw information collected through RFID reader is not reliable enough and prone to be large volume and implicit. How to take advantage of this kind of information for real-time manufacturing becomes another challenge. The paper is aimed to dig into this problem. A framework which is used to collect the RFID data, and transform the raw implicit meaning and unreliable data stream to the valuable and visible information in manufacturing process based on complex event processing was proposed in the paper. At last, a performance evaluation was given.
