I. CONCEPT A. What is the goal for treatment? Eliminate patients complaints! Patients complaints include Pain Catching Weakness (elevation, external rotation, bear hug) Symptom defers according to tear type, size, and pattern, in addition to concomitant inflammation or scapular dyskinesis Inflammation can be controlled by steroid injection Functional problem can be controlled by physiotherapy Surgery is indicated when complaints remain even after proper conservative treatment including inflammatory pain control and physiotherapy correcting scapular dyskinesis.
