SCREENING OF SECONDARY METABOLITES FROM XYLEM OF EUCOMMIA ULMOIDES

In order to screen the secondary metabolites of this medicinal tree, six yellow amorphous phenolic compounds, including gallic acid, ellagic acid, caffeic acid, kaempferol, wogonin, and astragalin, were isolated from nbuthanol soluble fraction of acetone extracts from E. ulmoides xylem in this work. The structures of the isolated secondary metabolites were mainly elucidated and established by spectroscopic analysis, such as ID and 2D NMR and MS (El, FAB and MALDI-TOF), as well as cellulose TLC and other physical and chemical evidences. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first time of screening secondary metabolites of E. ulmoides xylem.
