PREPARATION OF DISSOLVING PULP FROM COMMERCIAL BAMBOO PULPBOARD
Uniform polymerization degree and high α-cellulose content are necessary for producing viscose fiber from pulpboard. In this experiment, a bleached kraft bamboo pulpboard was used as the raw material for making dissolving pulp using two oxidation stages, the first being hypochlorite (H) and the second being hydrogen peroxide (P). The experiment was carried out to study the effects of the first hypochlorite oxidation conditions on the yield, polymerization degree and α-cellulose of bamboo dissolving pulp, when the conditions of the second hydrogen peroxide stage were kept as fallows: hydrogen peroxide dosage 2.5%, EDTA dosage 0.1%, temperature 90℃, time 1.5h, initial pH 10.5~11. The results showed that the optimized conditions for the H were: available chlorine dosage 3.5% (based on dry raw materials), initial pH 11, temperature 35 ℃, time 2h. Under these conditions and when the conditions of the P stage were kept as hydrogen peroxide dosage 2.5%, temperature 90 ℃, time 1.5h, initial pH 10.5~11, the yield, polymerization degree and a-cellulose content of bamboo dissolving pulp were 82.7%, 576 and 92% respectively, which basically met the quality requirement of dissolving pulp.
