STUDY ON DIRECT SODA-OXYGEN PULPING OF EULALIOPSTS BINATA
The study on direct soda-oxygen pulping of Eulaliopsts binata was conducted to attain the objective of efficient and clean pulping of such a herbal plant with good fibers. On the premise of bringing about pulping effect and gaining the highquality pulp from Eulaliopsts binata, impact factors on its soda-oxygen pulping were investigated. Based on the success in obtaining good pulping results at 120℃, it was found that the pulping separately at lower temperatures of 110℃ and 100℃ was all able to get better pulps, with the help of cooking additives self-made for soda-oxygen pulping. For the degree of delignification close to kappa number of 7, the pulping results at 110℃ was better in comparison with those at both 120℃ and 100℃, which won the pulp with yield of 52.7%, brightness of 59% SBD, and viscosity of 966 mL/g in spite of higher viscosity (1005 mL/g) occurring in pulping at 100℃. The best pulping effect resulted from pulp consistency of ca. 10%, then being worse with the increase of the consistency. Opposed to high SiO2 content beyond 10 g/L in the black liquor of common alkaline pulping, the values from this pulping were less than half of the former, being advantageous to the black liquor recovery. The results indicate that soda-oxygen method is of benefit to efficient and clean preparation of Eulaliopsts binata pulp.
