XYLANASE BLEACH BOOSTING OF POM-CATALYZED PULP OZONATION IN ORGANIC SOLVENT MEDIA

HP As catalyzed ozonation of chemical pulps in organic solvent media was found to be particularly effective and selective environmentally benign bleaching approach. The effect of enzymatic pretreatment with commercial xylanase preparation (endol,4-β-xylanase activity, EC 3.2.1.8) on HPA catalyzed ozonation of industrial eucalypt kraft pulp in solvent solution has been studied with an aim of further bleaching improvement. The substantial increase in pulp brightness, degree of delignification and intrinsic viscosity was achieved in comparison with control (enzyme-free) samples, significantly improving the efficiency and selectivity of HPA/O3 bleaching system.
