STUDY ON LIQUEFACTION OF WHEAT STRAW WITH SUPERCRITICAL FLUID
The goal of this study was to comprehensively utilize wheat straw (WS) and waste polycarbonate (PC) as a source of biomass energy by taking advantage of their potential synergistic effects in liquefaction. The feasibility and liquefaction conditions of WS and PC in supercritical ethanol were investigated. It was found that liquefaction of WS in the presence of PC significantly improved the liquefied yield of WS, confirming a positive synergistic effect. Suitable liquefaction conditions were determined as follows: liquefaction temperature at 275 °C, ratio of dosage of polyester to wheat straw 1:1 and liquefaction for 30 min. The experimental liquefied yield of WS was 67.06% under the above appropriate conditions. SEM photograph characterized that the residue from liquefaction was possessing smaller particles and rough surface than that of wheat straw material. GC-MS analysis of the liquefied products indicates that ethanol would decompose and associate under supercritical conditions.
