THE PILOT-SCALE EXPERIMENT ON APPLICATION OF NEW PULPER ROTOR AND LACCASE-HISTIDINE TO IMPROVE STRENGTH PROPERTIES OF OLD CORRUGATED CONTAINER FIBERS

This study mainly introduced a pilot-scale experiment about the comprehensive influences of medium-high consistency pulper rotor and biotechnology of laccase-histidine on old corrugated container (OCC) pulp. Firstly, the energy consumptions and pulping effectiveness of new rotor and Vokes rotor were compared, the results showed that the new pulper rotor reduced energy consumption of pulping by 22.2%, and more significant fines fibration were observed for pulps treated by new rotor than Vokes rotor. Further, the increasing development of fiber properties was found for pulps treated by combining the new pulper rotor with laccase-histidine, the swelling property, BET surface area of fiber and paper strength increased by 45.8%, 12.2% and about 40%, correspondingly. Whereas, we did not observe significant change of cellulose crystallinity and fiber pore size in fiber.
