STUDY ON CHARACTERISTICS AND DESTABILIZATION PROCESS OF DCS USING FBRM
In this paper,FBRM (Focused Beam Reflectance Measurement) was used as the tool to study the process of destabilization of DCS (Dissolved and Colloidal Substances).FBRM could realize the accurate evaluation of the aggregation of suspension quantitatively.In this paper,FBRM provided a realtime,in-line measurement and the parameters included mean chord length (MCL),total number of chords and chords distribution.DCS in this investigation originated from APMP (Alkaline Peroxide Mechanical Pulp) and OCC (Old Corrugated Container).PAC (Polyaluminum Chloride) was used as ATC (Anionic Trash Catcher).The results showed that the characteristics of DCS were different significantly,according to the origin of them.In comparison with DCS from APMP,DCS from OCC had more particles less than lum and the size of particles was less,and the amount of DS was larger.There was large difference in DCS destabilization process caused by addition of PAC,depending on the characteristics of DCS systems principally.For the system containing more large-particles and less DS,aggregation of particles took place effectively with the dosage of PAC increasing.The size of particles increased and the number of particles decreased constantly.For the system containing more small-particles and high DS,aggregation of small-particles was the main action of DCS destabilization process and MCL and the number of chords measured by FBRM did not change obviously.
