ADVANCED TREATMENT OF PULP AND PAPER MILL EFFLUENT BY HETEROGENEOUS CATALYTIC OXIDATION USING FE-ZSM-5ZEOLITE AS CATALYST
Heterogeneous advanced oxidation was used as tertiary treatment of wastewater from pulp and paper mill.The effluent contained 404 mg/L of COD,0.198 cm1 of color (Absorbance at 440 nm) and 2.55 NTU of turbidity.Fe-ZSM-5 zeolite catalysts were synthesized by impregnation method.H-ZSM-5 was used as support and Fe(NO3)3 was used as precursor.The effects of prepared conditions such as active component loading,Si/Al ratio,calcination temperature and time on the catalytic activity for paper and pulp wastewater degradation were investigated,respectively.The catalytic activity of Fe-ZSM-5 catalysts was evaluated by the removal of color,COD and turbidity of effluent at 70°C,pH 8.13,H2O2 concentration of 3.72 g/L,catalyst amount of 2.5g/L within 4 hours.Compared to Fentons reagent,heterogeneous catalytic oxidation has a potential to effectively advanced treat pulp and paper wastewater for recycle.
