Dynamics of Population Controlled with Virus-Vectored Immunocontraception

Virus-vectored immunocontraception (VVIC) is a new method used to manage vertebrate pests. Applied ecologists desire theoretical studies about its efficiency so that provide a preliminary assessment of the technique and guide experiments. We formulated two mathematical models with sexual structure to investigate the dynamics of population controlled with VVIC. The dynamical behavior of these models was investigated, the effects of parameters on population dynamics were analyzed. We concluded that employing virus with powerful infectivity as vectors to control monogamy or polygyny vertebrates guarantees better control effect. Meanwhile, we found that the effective contact rates among females and among males possess asymmetric effect.
