A hepatitis model with differential susceptibility and latency

Based on the facts that HBV can cause acute illness and chronic liver infection and that the likelihood of becoming chronically infected is dependent on age at primary infection, we introduce a hepatitis B epidemic model with differential susceptibility and latency. The dynamical behavior of the model is analyzed. It is proved that the disease-free equilibrium is globally stable if the basic reproductive number is less than one , and there exists at least one endemic equilibrium and that the disease is uniformly persistent if it is greater than one.
