Research on Remove of Impurity of Petrol Coke in High Temperature at Condition of Vacuum

It is much easier removing impurities from the raw material for preparing metallurgical-grade silicon with electrothermal process than removing this impurity from produced metallurgical-grade silicon. As a pretreatment unit for the preparation of high purity silicon,the impurity in petrol coke is removed in high temperature at condition of vacuum The effects on removing impurity of the particle size of feedstocks powder,the holding time,the holding temperature,the vacuum degree were investigated in detail,and the optimum conditions of removing impurities were obtained as follows: the size of petroleum coke particles controlled below 150 祄;holding timel20min,holding temperature1100?,the vacuum degree3?0-2 MPa. With this optimum conditions,up to 98.52wt% P in petrol coke powder can be removed,93.44% S can be removed. The experimental results will lay a foundation for the preparation of high purity silicon with electrothermal process.
